Ty is a Certified Nonprofit Consultant and holds formal degrees and training in psychology, public health, and community health education. She has published in several peer-reviewed journals, is a Huffington Post Contributor, and is the author of Show Me the Money: Quick Reference Guide to Funding your Nonprofit.  Ty’s work in the academic/research institution setting proved pivotal in helping to establish and sustain relationships between the university and its community partners. It was during this work that Ty observed the desire of community-based organizations to reap the benefits that came along with having major partners or securing substantial amounts of funding. However many of them either lacked the capacity or were not properly positioned to do so.

Ronessa Strickland-Roberts, MPH, CHES, CAHI is the Owner and Principal Consultant of Volcano Consulting, LLC. She developed her love for Public Health and the Nonprofit sector while obtaining her Associate of Science degree in Medical Assisting. Ronessa took a work study job, in 1999, in the local health department's STD department. There she was introduced to prevention strategies, health promotion, and epidemiological and surveillance strategies.  As a Certified Medical Assistant she crafted her clinical skills and strategically worked and volunteered in areas that would strengthen her understanding of public health and nonprofit strategies. She has worked in various areas as a Medical Assistant; administration, management, HIV, infectious disease, neurology, and oncology in clinical and nonprofit settings for 10 years.  These experiences confirmed her calling and today Ronessa has more than 20 years experience in Public Health; nearly half of that in administration and management of health behavior interventions at nonprofit organizations. Many people know Ronessa for her love of teaching and find her to be an encouraging and inspirational leader. She feels fortunate to know the work she does is exactly what she was born to do.
